At the inquest on the body of Mrs Mumby, thia morning; the evidence showed that death took place in Dr Alexander's surgery, where she had gone to get her toeih' extracted, and the chloroform was adu>iui>-tered by DrChilton. The deocased was examined before the chloroform was administered, and was believed to be Bound, but suddenly died after the completion of the operation. A post mortem was made by Dr Lightbourne, who deposed that deceased suffered from fatty degenera tion of the heart, and attributed d^ath to tbis cause, aco«!erated by the administration of chloroform in the operation. Tha verdict of the jury was in accordance with Dr Lightbourne's evidence. WELLINGTON, Thursday. It is understood that Captain Renaut, of the ship Pleinns, ha^ been appointed resident agent for the Grar Meat Freezing Company in London, where he will endeavour to puah the Eaglieh trade in frozen and preserved meats. An association has been formed here having for its object tbe protection of hotel property, and to enable wine and epirit merchants, hotelkeepors, brewers and others interested in the trade to combine in adopting euob measures as may be necessary to proteot property and business in connection with the trade.
