At the Education Board meeting to day it was resolved to obtain a return showing what teachers have been imported from Victoria. It was also stated that two out of every five children attending the schools in and around Dunedin were under seven years of age. A series of resolutions was given notice of by Mr Fraser with reference to the administration of the Board.

A stabbing affray occurred to-day between two men working on the new road to the Heads. The men were quarrelling over some tools, when one named Newman drew his knife and stabbed the other, Edwin Staliarrf, in the abdomen. The wound is about an inch and a half deep, but is not considered dangerous. Newman was arrested J>y tha A.C men on the defence works, and Siallard was takeu to the hospital.
