The '• core " was spoken of at the close, and the lecturer invoked the assistance- i of the political economist, the press, the pulpit, and of every Christian man ami woman in extirpating this gigantic evil. It is to be hoped that this is not by any means the last time Mr Dutton will visit us, as he has succeeded in establishing himself as a favorite in th»s district. Musical selections were well rendered by several of the local amateurs during the evening. Several new places* of business have been lately added to..our township. Commodious shops have been erected on the railway reserve fronting the main, street for Mr Mcliiskey, bootmaker, Mr William Boyrie, draper, -and Mr Ferguson, tinsmith. August nth," 1884. ;\.
