Received Dec. 7, 1882, 10.30 p.m. LONDON, Dec. 6. Very successful observations of the transit were obtained in America, Capetown, Durban, and the West of England. At Paris and Madrid the weather was cloudy, and prevented the contact being distinctly observed. At Cork it was plainly visible, but at the other stations in Ireland the sky was overcast. Field, the juryman who was stabbed j when entering his own residence is recovering. A full of snow obstructs railway coin--1 raunication in the North of Great Britain. The Orient steamship Liguria arrived at Plymouth to-day from Melbourne, Oct. 25.
