It is probable that tho iest of the Arabist prisoners will be pardoned except Sulieman Bey, who is charged with having instigated the massacres of Europeans in Alexandria in June last. Judge O'Brien, in his opening address at the Assizes, referred principally to the crimes committed quite recently, and said the effect would be ruin to Dublin. The Bishop of Winchester or the Bishop of Durham arc mentioned as likely to succeed the lato Dr Tait in the Archiepiscopal See of Canterbury. Arabi Pashu, in a letter to the Times, cheerfully refers to the sentence passed upon him, and states that he is conscious that the British Government will complete the reforms in Egypt which ho commenced. The American Tariff Commission has reconmended a reduction in the wool duties, especially that intended for blankets. They also advise a reduction of the geneiai tariff averaging 25 per cent.
