A torchlight procession and display of fireworks was given in honor of the Australian cricketing team to-night
SYDNEY; Nov. 30. Sailed, this afternoon — R.M.S. Australia, for San Francisco, via Auckland.
Much excitement prevails in East Sydney on account of preparations for the approaching general election, which it is believed will be closely contested. Proceedings are, however, perfectly orderly.

Nov. 30.
The election of four members for East Sydney constituency took place to-day, and resulted in the return of Messrs Reid, Boston, Griffiths, and McElhone. Sir H. Parkes and Dr Ronwick were defeated. Great excitement prevails in the city tonight.
