Winiata's Captor in Trouble.

[By Telegraph.] Auckland, Aug. 20. Barlow, Winiata's captor, is at Alexandra, hob-nobbing with Tv Tawhiao, the King's son, and the leading Kingites. The following telegram has just been received from Hamilton :— An attempt was made on Barlow's life by the natives at Alexandra last night. He bad gone there to look after some horses. At ten p.m. Barlow, in company with Tv Tawhiao, went to the hotel stable to assist the latter to saddle his horses. As Barlow opened ' the stable door two shots were fired at him, one of which struck him across the breast, passing through his vest and coat. Barlow saw a native running away, and, drawing a revolver, fired after him without effect. The constabulary searched for the offender, but without avail. Barlow arrived at Hamilton at 4.30 p.m. to-day, under an escort of constabulary.
