The last division of profits took place in 1874, and the cash surplus then '■ divided amounted |to £235,000, giving additions to' policies averaging £3 per cent. j>er annum on the sum assured. The bonuses paid on policies becoming claims have varied from £15 per cent: on the sum assured for a "policy of five years' standing to £150 per cent, for one of twenty-five years' duration. Bonuses become vested additions to policies when-they nave been full five'years in force.
