TUTURAU ROAD BOARD.

This Board met in Humphries' Hotel on Saturday, 13th. inst. Present — Messrs McGibbon, JBitheridge, Gait, Watt, Pollock, McCartney, and Nicol. In the absence of the chairman Mr McGibbon was voted to the chair. The minutes of previous meeting were read and confirmed.

Tlie correspondence included letter from Mr Perkins, accepting Board's offer of the office of inspector of works. Letter from Mr Hately, late engineer to the Board, claiming remuneration for specifications prepared by him. Letter from Mr Alex. Dickie, calling the Board's attention to the state of the road leading to his property.

It was resolved that Mr Hately's letter be held over till next meeting. The inspector waß directed to report on state of road complained of by Mr Dickie.

The chairmen of subdivision committees submitted specifications for works. The specifications with alterations suggested by committees were approved of, and the clerk was directed to call for tenders for the same.

The Inspector called the attention of the Board to the fact that certain persons in digging for rabbits were doing great injury to some parts of Cubbin's road. The clerk was ordered to insert a notice in the papers warning persons against doing so.

It was resolved that the Board impress on the County Council the necessity of at once sending their eagineer to examine and report en the state of that portion of the main road between the bridge and Hastie's Hill, with the view of having the same made good this summer. Also to report on the state of the road to Otaria with the view of having it repaired forthwith.

Complaint having been made of the damage done by cattle straying an the roads, Mr Gait proposed and Mr Etheride seoonded that the Board appoint a ranger to take the steps necessary to compel cattle-owners to prevent their cattle from straying en to the reads.

The clerk was directed to apply to the Waste Lands Board to proclaim a public pound in the district.

The Board adjourned till Saturday, 3rd November.
