The Alice, barque, from Lyttelton. with cargo, was coming up the harbor as the train left on Saturday evening. The brigantine S-irah Pile, Captain Clark, left | Ilobart Town on the 10th instant, with light westerly winds, which continued for the first five days of the voyage, then strong S.E. breeze, which veered into the northward, and blew a violent gale on Monday nieht. Hove to for twelvo hours. Sighted the Solanders on Tuesday, at noon, and brought up under Stewart's Island the same evening. On Wednesday, at noon, ran across to Jacob's 11-iver, and anchored until Friday, at noon, when she siiled for tho Blufi; where she arrived at 10 a.m. on Saturday. The Kent, cutter, returned to port on Friday morning, not having sailed for St. -wart's Island as reported previouly. Slut went to dredge for an anchor lost by the American whalt r Eliza Adams dvi ing the gale on Tuesday afternocn. Although the gale referred to was one of the severest which has passed over the Bluff for many years ] back, it is pleasing to remark that although the shipping was two deep at tho wharf no casualty occurred.
