WASTE LANDS BOARD.
MONOAY, JANUABY 11. Present —The Chief Commissioner, and Messrs Baker, Mitchell, Lumsden, and Wood. APPLICATIONS yOEIAKD. , John Brannigari applied for 120 acres, being section 11, block 4, New River Hundred. Granted. Robert Scollay wrote, applying for 20 acres adjoining his present holding at Halfmoon Bay, Stewart's Island. It was shown that applicant had resided on Stewart's Island since 1860, and after consideration it was resolved — That the application should be recommended to tbe favorable consideration of His Honor the Superintendent, the application not to contain more than five tihains frontage, with a depth not exceeding forty chains. BESISNATION AND COMPLI_:_m"aY MINUTE IN BG SAM-. A communication was received from His Honor the Superintendent, notifying the acceptance of Mr Duncan M' Arthur's resignation of his position as a Commissioner of the Southland Waste Lands Board. Mr Mitchell said that Mr M'Arthur had been a member of the Board for twelve years, and he thought his long connection with the Board, and the valuable services whioh he had rendered it, deserved- some notice — some commemoration in the minutes of the Board, Mr Wood was afraid that the courtesy might lead to a hackneyed, unmeaning, undignified custom in the future, but personally he had not the Blighteat objection to Mr Mitchell's suggestion being acted upon. The Board agreed to adopt Mr Mitchell's suggestion, and resolved — That the Board receives with regret the Superintendent's acceptance of Mr Duncan M 1 Arthur's resignation as a Commissioner of the Waste Lands Board — a position whioh he has held for so many years with respeofc to himself and his fellow Comiiisßioner?. The Board then adj ourned.
