INVEROARGILL HORSE; CATTLE, SHEEP, AND STATION MARKET

Messrs Robertson and Cob report :— Since the publication of our last report, we regret to say that nmny will have had cause to regret their shipments to this province, but at the same "time, to a certain extent, wo must confess we have not bee*Burprised. If our friends would only' take the trouble to refer to our advice, repeated in almost every circular for the last six months, they will find , that we especially warned them against shipping anything but really good horses, whereas, nearly the whole that have arrived up to the present moment, have been inferior diau<^hfc and very inferior batiks. These 010 especially the l«orses we warned- our friends not to send, and if on the force of our advice they will ship such stock-, iic cannot be-blamed if any loss should arise, but we can only: repeat again that which wg have already so often endeavored toimpress^upon shippers, viz., thjjt no horses wi 1 pay the great expenses of freight and charges, together with an average, to cover loss, except really ; good draught and superior hacks, and these there can be no doubt will for the whole of this season command fair prices. One thing we feel bound to make known to those who depend upon our advice, and that is, — the rushso confidently anticipated by us all has not as yet taken place, and therefore it now especially behoves shippers to be careful nnd not overstock the market with stock of any kind, but more particularly with anything inferior. We quote sales during the last month as follows : — Very superior heavy druught horses (demand not great) £75 to £90 Good eeeoruT class do do £50 to £65 Light harness do £30 to £50 Superior hacks, good weight carriers (still in good demand) £40 to £50 Inferior hacks ami unbroken calts — ,market glutted and prices nominal. Working Bullocks.— There has boon a verj excellent sale for good well broken bullocks during the past month, but to a great extent this demand is now satisfied, and w-e do not think we could fairly quote them at more than L 45 to LSO prr pair, according in frame, although we have sold as high as LfiO and L<3-2 10s. Cattle. — The demand for all descriptions is now very good, more particularly for steers from 3 to 5 years old, which we quote at Ll2 to Ll3. Useful Store and Milch Cows have realised in our yards this last week very remunerative prices, and arc now in incrensrd demand. Fat Ca.ttliE are much wanted, and would readily bring from 65s to 75s per lOOlbs. Sitbhf — Fat, 38s to 435. Store, 26s to 28s. Stations, firm, or nona offering worth notice.
