WOOL.
The wool season is just opening, and we hoar of shearing being commenced on a few stations. A portion of the clip will be forwarded next month, aad we understand that Messrs Dalgety, Raftray and Co intend laying on the " Witch cf the Tees," Captain Baitlcy, now nearly due from London, to load wool from the Now River; This smart littlo barque will thus be the first vessol to arrive direct; from home in the Port of Inrercnrgill, and the firefc to convey a cargo of Southland wool direct to the London market. It is expected that a second vessel of the same class, probably the '* Greyhound," will be laid on by Messrs Calder, Blacklock and Co, to follow the " Witch of the Tees-" Captain Bartley was, last season, the first to load wool from the Porfc of Oamaru direct for home, and delivered hi 1 ? cargo in good order, there being, as reported, no damage whatever.
