CHAMBER OF COMMERCE.
A special general meeting of the Invercargill Chamber of Commerce, was held in. Messrs Dalgety, Rattray, and Co.'s store, Kelvin-street, yesterday at 4 p.m. PresentMessrs Calder, McDonald, Bonar, Beavan, Mclvor, Ross, Button, Smith, and the honoiary secretary. The meeting lapsed for want of a quorum, when the Committee formed for consideraiion of general 'business. Present—^Messrs Calder, Macdonald Bonar, Ross, Beavan, Button, Gilles, and Whitton. Absentees-— Messrs Horne ri Mitchell, Hallen stein. Absentee by consent, P. L. Francis. Moved and carried, that J. Birrell Sands be appointed secretary to the Chamber. The rules of the chamber were ordered to be printed, together with commercial charges and names of members of Committee. A letter from Mr Godwin, to Mi Gilles, regarding the jetty regulations, was read and ordered to be laid on the table. The sub -Committee laid upon the table the memorial to his Honor the Superintendent, prepared by them, relative to public contracts, which was read, approved, and ordered to be transmitted. Certain resolutions were then adopted rela- [ tive to a circular recently issued by his Honor the Superintendant, having reference to the ordering of the Bluff Railway plant from Great Britain.
