JOHN AMADIO.

One of the greatest musical treats presented to the Invercargill public is the forthcoming flute recital by Mr John Amadio, on Monday next, October 14th, in the Victoria Hall. Mr Amadio is not unknown to Invercargill, for he lias won his way into the hearts of many people in Southland on two previous occasions. Those who have heard liim previously are again booking seats witli a knowledge of a treat in store. Tiiose who have not heard him should take this opportunity of going to his final appearance, in N.Z. One does not need to be an accomplished musician to appreciate the beauties of the flute in the hands of such an artist as Mr Amadio undoubtedly is. One of the items of greatest interest on the programme is a "Concertino" by that clever Frenchwoman, Madame Chaminade. Her music is well-known to most musical folk, and there' is a distinct charm in her style. Amadio's interpretation of this work is perfect, and he wlil be ably backed up in the piano part by Mr H. A. Gleeson, whose services have been given to so many charitable entertainments. Miss Rena Te Au is well-known to us, and has made rapid strides as a vocalist. Her fame has travelled, for she has been engaged for important. vocal work further north. Dr. Stanley Brown, the remaining artist, is so well known that it is unnecessary to sing his praises. You must hear him sing once more and the praises will follow as a matter of course. He leaves Invercargill shortly for military work in far-off lands, where his skill as a surgeon will be of great value to his country. The seating accommodation of Victoria Hall is limited, and is likely to be taxed to its utmost, so we urge all lovers of good music to book their seats at once at "The Bristol." The prices are extremely reasonable: Reserved seats 3s(plus 2d tax), unreserved 2/- (plus Id tax).
