MAGAZINR-MAKTNG FOB. AUSTRALASIAN WOMEN. Readers of the October issue of "Everylady's Journal" —which is just to hand —will find in this excellent magazine all the good features which distinguished it under its old title of "The New Idea." in addition to several others. Noteworthy in this particular number are two fine special articles, the first being the best description we have seen of how ostriches are farmed in Australia, and the second being a picturesque account by a woman-writer of the Investiture of the Prince of Wales. Mr Charles Barrett —the well-known nature writer, who describes the farming of the ostriches —explains the whole method of handling the birds and obtaining the plumes. He supplements his letterpress with a dozen capital photographs.

As this is one of the most important periods in the year in the world of fashion, a good deal of space is naturally devoted to Madame Fashion and Her Ways, and a wonderful collection of upwards of a hundred designs is given from which readers may choose according to their taste. Three paper patterns are also given away to purchasers of the magazine. No paper patterns have a higher reputation among women who make their own dresses than these free patterns, which are given away monthly by the proprietors of "Fverylady's Journal."

Australia and New Zealand are adding yearly to their already long list of local industries, and none is more deserving of support than that of magazine-mak-ing.
