The Empire Fete.

A BRILLIANT SUCCESS. This long looked for fete finishes its course in the Victoria hall tonight, and to ali who have not yet attended we would remind them that this is the last chance of seeing and taking pact in one of the best local fetes placed before the public for some time. The ball was set rolling by our worthy Mayor (Mr C. S. Longuet) on Monday evening ; since then everything has gone like the proverbial marriage bell. Each evening new attractions ace provided, and new goods are offered on the stalls and a handsome door prize given—all for the sum of sixpence. 'A host of sideshows —instructive and amusing—tend to keep up the interest, and one and all are delighted with the talent introduced by the manager (Mr A. R. Wills), who has taken a lot of time in perfecting the arrangements, and to him the success of the venture is largely due. The proceeds are in aid of that deserving institution, the Hibernian Band. The stalls were presided over\ by the following ladies, who are to be commended on the manner in which they carried out their labour of love : England Stall —Mrs Shepherd and Scotland Stall—Mrs McDonough and Mrs Stanton, New Zealand —Mrs Mathison and Mrs Gfrirnstone. Australia (refreshment stall)- —Messrs Daniels and J. McLaren. Canadian Tea Kiosk —Mrs Searle and Mrs Wills. " . Shooting Gallery—Messrs B. Timpany and P. Scully. - : -, Telegraph—Mr A. Keaney and. Misses K. McGrath and R. Kinvan. Laughing Gallery—Mr Frank Hiddleston. . . .
