i.a.c. XI v. STAR XI. With a beautifully fine morning, there was every prospect of an ideal flay for the resumption of the above match. Unfortunately, just when wickets were about to be fixed, a heavy drizzling rain set in and prevented a start being made for about three-quarters of an hour. However, the shower soon passed over, but it was nearly four o’clock before Wann and Findlay opened up for the Star against Dalrymple and Orindlay. With the score at 8, Dalrymple beat Wann. Turner was next, and very soon received his quietus. Nothing of note occurred until Lillicrap and Black got together. The score was then taken from 20 io 39, when a ball from Dal. found its way to Liilicrap’s stumps. McKay joined Black, and another useful partnership put on 34 runs
more, McKay retiring with 15 to his credit. The succeeding batsman uever shaped at all, and the innings closed for 94, W. Black carrying his bat for 34. This player deserves commendation for the improved form shown, and some of his drives were particularly good. Kane was conspicuous by his absence. Failing to save the follow on, W. Black and Michie defended to the bowling of King-sland and Purdue. When time was called 3 wickets were down for 32, Purdue securing them alb STAR Xl.—lst innings.
