SOUTHLAND BOARD OF EDUCATION. SCHOLARSHIPS EXAMINATION, 1899. IT is hereby notified that the examinatioa for Scholarships under the Board will be held in the Middle School, Invercargill; District High School, Riverton ; Public School, Gore ; and The Public School, Queenstown, Commencing at 9.30 o’clock a.ra., on TUESDAY, THE 19th DEC., 1899. Scholarships, as in past years, will be awarded. Intending competitors, who must not have exceeded the age of 15 years as on 31st December, 1899, are requested to forward to this office, not later than the 9th December, a notice of their intention to compete, together with a certificate of birth. They are also required to furnish informa* tion as to —(1) the School or Schools attended during the last two years, (2) the Centre at which they wish to be examined, (3) their parents’ address. The Governors of the Southland High. Schools will award Free Education for a term of two years (with an additional year, if satisfactory progress is made and the pupil otherwise proves worthy) to the first fifteen of the unsuccessful candidates for Scholarships.
