CHRISTCHURCH, July 19,
At a meeting of the council of 1 lie New r Zealand Amateur Athletic Association, a letter was read from the Amateur Athletic Union of Australasia stating that the dates submitted by New Zealand for this year’s Australasian championship, December 28th and 31st, at Auckland, have been approved. The letter also stated that already the Queensland, Victorian and New South Wales Associations have appointed special committees to see those colonies represented by 'their full strength at the games. With regard to the statement that Auckland desired the dates to be changed to December 18th and 21st, the council decided to ascertain definitely what was desired, and to leave the matter in the hands of the sub-committee- already appointed.
A permit was granted to the Wellington Eight Hours Federated Union to have two amateur races added to the programme on October 9th.
A letter from tlie Amateur Athletic Union of Australasia in regard to the record of 15 3-ssec established by G. W. Smith, of Auckland, for 120 yards hurdles, stated that the Union thought that in all case's it would be better for the Association under whose jurisdiction the performance came, to first determine whether it would accept the record, before sending it to the Union for acceptance. The council decided to accept Smith’s record, and ask the Union to confirm it as an Australasian record.
It, was decided to agree to reciprocal arrangements with the League of Wheelmen in regard to reinstatements, and to adopt the suggestion of the League to aproach the Government with a view to making a small grant to each sports body holding the championship.
