NELSON, November 27.

Perfect weather favoured the first day of the agricultural show. The entries are more numerous than at any preceding show, but the whole of the exhibits will not be judged till to-morrow, when the show will be opened to the general public by the Hon. Mr Duncan, Minister of Lands. The draught horses are a fine lot. In cattle the Ayrshires are really first class. .Shorthorns are not very numerous, but the quality is excellent. The Jerseys also are very good. The Herefords are good, but the Polled Angus are not numerous. Of the sheep, the judges say that a great improvement is shown. Romneys are very good, also Leicester.? and .Shropshire.?. I'here are some excellent Lincolns, South Downs, merinos and Corridales; very finefat sheep and freezers are shown. The pigs consist of Berkshires, Yorkshires and I’amworths, and are exceedingly good, there is a good show of dogs, poultry, and implements, etc. In cattle, Mr A. Gibbs takes most prizes in Shorthorns, with Buckrell’s Hawera strain; in Ayrshires and Herefords, Mr W. Coleman leads; in Jerseys, Mr Dickson Harkness secures the most prizes. In pigs, Messrs W. R. May and Dickson Harkness were the most successful. In sheep, Mr Bushell, of Blenheim, did best in merino, Mr Wm. Best, of Nelson, was also a prize-taker; in English Leicester, Mr Jas. Marsden took most prizes; in Lincolns, Mr Bushell and Hunt Brothers lead ; in Romneys, Hunt Brothers had the best display; in Shropshires, Mr Jas Marsden is chief prize-taker ;in bouth Downs, Mr Joseph Best; in Corridale, Mr Richmond, and in crossbred, Hunt
