Sander and Son’s Eucalypti Extract. - Advt A savage assault is said to have been committed on Mr Peppin, a resident of Eighty-eight Valley, Nelson, recently. The Mail says that Mr Peppin was sitting in his house with a Native youth in his service, named Jack Mope, aged about 18, formerly an inmate of the Stoke Orphanage. The youth was about to put some wood on the fire, when Mr Peppin said they did not want more wood on, as they were going to bed. Mope, Mr Peppin alleges, then seized the poker and dealt his master several blows with it on the head. Mr Peppin closed with the youth, but the latter wriggled out of his clothes and got away from the houses. In the struggle one of Mr Peppin’s fingers was severely bitten, and his head was also bleeding from the blows with the poker. Feeling faint, Mr Peppin went to a neighbour's house for assistance, and whilst he was away the youth is said to have returned to the bouse and taken away his clothes and a quantity of food. Cromwells Argus, October 20th, 1891 says: “Messrs (iawne and Co., have favoured us with samples of their Wor cestershire Saucer As to tha sause, one of many Worcesters in the field, we may say that its flavour is as good as its piquancy is pronounced.
