(By Telegraph.) The Buteshire. WELLINGTON, October 23. The s.s. Buteshire, from'Sydney to London, called in here this morning with a large English mail. She resumes her voyage to-day. A Good BlazeDUNEDIN, October 23. , A fire broke out at 6 o'clock this morning in a three-storey building formerly part of Guthrie and Larnach’s. but now occupied by Scott Bros, produce merchants and W. G. North’s brush manufactory. The building was completely gutted, nothing but the walls were left standing. The insurances are:—On •Scott’s, £4OO on the stock in the Royal Exchange, £2OO in the Standard ; on North’s stoc-E and machinery, £4OO in the Royal Exchange. The building is the property of Mr Henry North and is uninsured. Thomson, Bridgers and Co.’s building and stock were both damaged, but the stock was insured for £2OOO in the South British, £IOOO reinsured and £IOOO on the building in the sair e office. The Dunedin Gymnastic Club, who rented the upper floor, lost £SO worth of apparatus which was uninsured. The origin is unknown. Case Dismissed.
The case against Herbert James Moss, brought back from Melbourne on a charge of false pretences, was dismissed, no evidence being offered.
