TEMUKA STOCK SALES

The fortnightly sale was held yesterday. There was an average entry. Sheep were dull of sale and showed a drop of nearly 2s a head. The cattle sale dragged and the major portion of the entry was withdrawn. The following are quotations of sales actually effected :

Sheep—Fat ewes, 9s 7d ; fat lambs, 9s 2d to 10s; 2-tooth wethers and maiden ewes (stores), 5s 9d; 4-tooth ewes and wethers (part fat), 10s 3d, Cattle—Fat steers, £6 to £6 10s ; a special entry of fat heifers was withdrawn at £9 10s, equal to about 20s a cwt; 3-year-old stores, £4 15 to £5 10s ; 2-year-old stores, £3 10s to £4 5s ; yearlings, up to 355. There was a poor entry of milkers, and prices ranged from £4 to £5 ss. Springers met with little enquiry. Pigs—A small entry and prices in favour -of sellers. Stores from 4s to Bs. There was no enquiry for other sorts.
