AUSTRALIANS V, MIDDLESEX. (P*a Electric Telegraph— Cop? rigiht.) (Per Press Association.) ißeoeived 11.10 a.m., July 25th ) London, June 24. The match between the Australians and a Middlesex eleven began at Lord’s to-day. The County team comprised ; Lucas, Cornish, Westhorp, West, Phillips, Ford, Rawlen, J. Elearne, O’Brien, Douglas, and Scott. W. Giffen, Jarvis and CoDuingham stand cut of the colonial team. Stoddart having injured his leg was unable to take part in the match. The Australians in their first innings scored 147 runs. Blackham 42, and Trumble (not out) 61, were the highest scorers. Lyons, Giffen, Baanerman, and Gregory were all dismissed without scoring, and the first 5 wickets fell with only 26 runs on the sheet. Hearne’s bowling was almost unplayable.
