The Australians in their first innings scored 147 runs. Blackham 42, and Trumble (not out) 61, were the highest scorers. Lyons, Giffen, Baanerman, and Gregory were all dismissed without scoring, and the first 5 wickets fell with only 26 runs on the sheet. Hearne’s bowling was almost unplayable.
