The weather was warm and pleasant for tho Championship sports to-day. The track was somewhat heavy but was much better than on the pievioue day. The programme opened at a quarter past two o'clock instead of two, with ICO Yabds Fiat Championship op New Zealand. (Record 9 4 sth sec ) First Heat. J. H. Hemplon (Hawke’s Bay) 1 W. Hayward (Canterbury) ... ... 2 W. A. Low (Dunedin) 3 J. 0. Hutchison was scratched. A good start was effected. Hompton came away gradually and won easily by three yards. Time—lo 1 sth sec. Second Heat. J. Buchanan (Auckland) 1 W. Balch (Canterbury) 2 N. L. Qurr (Wellington) 3 C. Heskett and L. A. Cuff were scratched (tho latter for all events in consequence to an accident the previous day;. The winner came up well at the finish and won a good race by a couple of feet; third close up. Time —10 1 sth sec. Final Heat. J. H. Heropton 1 W. Hayward 2 J. Buchanan 3 Time - 9 4 6seo which reaches the New Zealand and the world's record. One Mile Walking Championship. (New Zealand record 7min 2 2-sseo ) A. F. Burton (Auckland) 1 HB. Cocks (Canterbury) ... ... ... 2 A. Bain (Dunedin) 3 These were the only starters. Cocks led off, followed by Burton and Bain in that order. The two former walked together, Bain losing nearly twenty yards in the first lap. No alteration took place ia the next round except that Bain had decreased his distance from the leaders. 250 yards from home all were together. Bur ton then spurted to the front and coming fast reached the tape ten yards in front of Cocks, Bain close up to the latter. All the men walked well. Time—7min. 5 4 sare. One Mile Ohdinaey Bicycle Championship. (N.Z. Eocord—2raifl'. 432-sih sec) A. 0. Wilmot (N. 0.8.0.) 1 O, B. Wilson (P. 8.0.) 2 W. J. S. Hayward (.P.8.0.) 3 Eight started but Leasham was unable to ride owing to a pedal giving way. Kingston made the pace for two laps and a half, when Wilmot pat on one of his well-known spurts and came away easily, winning by 20 yds, Wilson second, Hayward third, Kingston fourth, all close together.
