The Liverpool barque Griffe is 9or 10 days out from Brisbane, and on arrival will load for the Canterbury Farmers’ Co-operative Association. Captain Shepherd, late of the Southern Cross, has been promoted to take charge of the Talnne. Captain Dawson takes charge of the Southern Cross, and Captain Wheeler, who has been for a holiday, takes command of the Manapouri. The barque Arnold which arrived last evening is from Launceston, and will load here,on account of the New Zealand Shipping Company, in place of the Eangitikei, which goes on to Napier. She is a German barque, another of the Elsfleth registry. The Irene will probably complete loading this week, and the Arnold follows her on the berth for the same company at once. Another very large sailing ship, the Lord Brassey, which has been built by the Grangemonth Dockyard Company at their Alloa yard, has been put in the Australian trade. The vessel has four masts, and the height from the waterline to the truck of the highest of these is 187 feet. As the height of the highest span of the Forth bridge at high water is only 150 feet, it was found necessary to lower'throe of the masts about 37 or 40 feet to allow the barque to pass underneath the bridge.
