TRADE AND LABOUR.
IHB TRAMWAY DISPUTE.
THE MEN ON STRIKE.

WELLINGTON. June 19
At a meeting which extended over midnight the Trades and Labour Council fully discussed the Tramway dispute and carried the following resolution which was forwarded to Dr Grace :—" That with great reluctance the Council now decide that they have no other alternative but to notify tbe directors that all members of the tram and bus employees, union in the employ of the Wellington City Tramway Company be withdrawn from work at once.” The decision of the meeting was announced to the meeting of tbe (ram employees bold later with the result that the whole of tbe latter have gone out on strike. The number out is 37 including drivers, grooms and guards. The strike will not however affect the ordinary traffic of the tramway as the proprietors had previously arranged for a new staff and the cars are running as usual this morning, Ibe council will call on all unionists and sympathisers to support the Wellington Bus Company which has been running in opposition to the tramway for some time.
