The wife of Phil Robinson, war correspondent, who recently returned from Australia, is suing for a divorce. She alleges that her husband forced her to swallow a quantity of morphia, which produced insanity, and then had her shut up in a lunatic asylum. WOMEN’S RIGHTS. Tho Bill introduced in the House of Lords by the Earl of Meath, to qualify women to sit as members of County Councils, has been rejected by a large majority. AN OFFICIAL DISGRACED.
General Maitland, Director-General of the Ordnance Department at Woolich has been compelled to resign'his position, and also his membership of the Array and Navy Club. It is alleged that he was found guilty of immorality of a degrading character. A YOUNG BATTENBURG. Princes Beatrice has been confined of a son. TASMANIAN LOAN. A quotation of the Tasmanian Loan by tho Stock Exchange has been deferred.
