FRUIT GROWERS AND NEW SOUTH WALES.

A deputation from the Fruit Growers’ League waited ou Sir Saul Samuel to-day asking if the Government of New South Wales would offer any facilities for acquiring land in that colony for fruit culture, and whether they would contribute towards the expenses entailed in sending out an expert to report on the capabilities of the colony. In reply, Sir Saul Samuel said that he doubted if the Government would grant any pecuniary assistance to a private enterprise, but added that they would gladly offer every information in their possession on the subject, SELLING WHEAT BY WEIGHT.

The standing committee ou “ trade ” have rejected a clause in the Weights and Measures Bill compelling the sale of wheat by weight.
