The weather was fine for the third day’s racing, but this being an off day, the attendance was much below that of the previous days. The following are the results : Two-Year-Old Plate, 5 furlongs. Re, 6st 51b 1 Sophy, 6st 121 b 2 Rebellion, 7st 41b ... 3 Eight horses started. Won by a neck. Time—lmin. 2aec. All-Aged Stakes, a sweepstake of 10 sovs. with 500 sovs added ; 3 mile. Carbine, Bst 81b ... ... ... 1 Rudolph, Cat 121 b 2 Russley, 9st 111 b 3 Lochiel and Melos also ran. The field was despatched on even terms, but Russley and Lochiel soon raced to the front, Carbine bringing up the rear. This order was maintained for half the journey, when both Carbine and Rudolph improved their positions. As they entered the straight Lochiel died away, and Carbine and Rudolph were on terms with Russley, Melos at the same time passing Lochiel. At the distance post Carbine asserted himself, and won by half a length from Rudolph, Russley a fair third, Melos fourth, and Lochiel last. Time-Imin 40sec. Betting at the post was—G to 4 on Carbine, 4 to I against Rudolph, 7 to 1 against Russley. Welted Handicap ; 1} mile. The race was run a second time, owing to the stewards entertaining a protest entered in the first race. First Foal Stakes ; 0 furlongs. Sinecure 1 Pretty Kate 2 Those wore the only starters. Sinecure won comfortably in Imin 19sec. Cumberland Stakes, a sweepstake of 10 sovs, with 500 sovs added ; 2 miles. Carbine, Bst 21b 1 Lochiel, 9st 41b... ... ... ... 2 Aborcorn, 9sl 51b 3 No others started. Betting—s to 2.0 n Carbine, 5 to 2 agst Abercorn, 20 to I agst Lociel. On the fall of the Hag Lochiel went i away with the lead, followed by Carbine, , Aborcorn being handy. At one time it appeared as if Lochiel must win, but Carbine running very gamely crept up inside the distance, and won on the post by half a head from Lochiel, Abercorn two lengths behind the latter.
