RANDWICK TRAINING NOTES. (Pee Electric Telegraph —uopiright.) (Pee Press Association.) (Received 2.10 p.m., April 17th.) Sydney. April 17, At Randwick this morning Pearl Shell finished seven furlongs in Imin 38sec. Mr Gannon’s trio, Melos, Australian Peer, and Theorist, worked together, the former having the best of a really good gallop of a mile and a half, which was done in 2min 52sec. Carbine was sent one mile and five furlongs, moving freely, and looking well. Lochiel, after cantering, broke away for a mile and a half, his stable companion, Rose Argent, carrying him along the latter half of the journey. Abercorn’s performance of a mile and a half put all others in the shade. Cran brook, with his shoes off and a light boy up, was sent to accompany the son of Chester, but Abercorn easily put him down, finishing the distance in 2min 50aec. (Received 1.40 a.m., April 18th.) THE BETTING MARKET. Sydney, April 17. The latest betting on the Cup is 100 to 0 against Abercorn, 100 to 12 against Lonsdale. The others are unaltered. Little wagering is recorded. INCREASING STAKES. Melbourne, April 17. At a meeting of the Victoria Racing Club it was decided to increase the added money of the Melbourne Cup to £SOOO, with a sweepstake of 50 sovs. It was also decided to add a piece of plate to tho Victorian Derby and Maribrynong Plate.
