Agricultural and Pastoral Association.

The following is the continuation of this meeting, held on Saturday— The chairman said he was sure that they would agree with him that the past year had been very successful. He would not take up further time, but would ask tho secretary to explain the item “ Miscellaneous, £39 X7s 6d,” which included cost of cattle yards, etc. Mr McLaren explained that for yards, etc., nothing but v.d.l. timber had been used, but on enquiry the committee had come to the conclusion that they could get timber equally good enough to answer their purpose for half the money. The report and balance sheet were then unanimously adopted.

On the motion of Mr McLaren, seconded by Mr Orbell, Mr A. M. Clark and Mr E. Timaru Rhodes were elected President and Vice-president respectively. On taking the c !, air Mr Clark courteously thanked them for the honour they had done him in electing him President of the society. They were situated in one of the most favoured po; tions of New Zealand, the soil and climate of which could not be surpassed, and on it were settled men who were thoroughly practical farmers and agriculturists. Ho was of opinion that any man elected to the position he bad been that day should feel proud indeed; in fact he felt prouder now than if he had been elected a member of the Parliament of New Zealand. (Applause and laughter) In conclusion ho once more cordially thanked them for the honour they had done him. f [Mr Rhodes alsofreturned thanks in a brief speech. Mr W. Balfour was then unanimously reelected treasurer, and the following gentlemen as a committee of mangement:—Messrs W. Balfour, W. Cartwright, E. Davie, H. Ford, J. Goldie, A. Grant, W. Hay, E. Irvine, M. Quinn, S. Holland, J. Mitchell, D. McLaren, B. Mackay, A. Macpherson, C.. N. Orbell, A, C. Pringle, J. S. Rutherford, J. King, W. Stevenson, G. Talbot, C. G, Tripp, A. Clelland, W. Pringle, and T. Langdon. Mr F. W. Stubbs was unanimously elected secretary, and after transacting some routine business, the meeting terminated.
