PBy Telegraph.] Auckland, June 27, Sir George Grey yesterday received a telegram from the Christchurch Worklog Men’s Political Association asking him to stand for Christchurch North. Sir George Grey replied : —“ I feel grateful for your telegram, and am not forgetful of the obligations 1 am under to the citizens of Christchurch, which I will strive to repay, but I am old, and in all probability this must be my last election, and I owe to Auckland and the electors of City East and West a debt of gratitude increased during many years. I must fall in harness in their service if they permit, but I thank your Committee for their kind thought.”

Dunedin East electors this evening. He declared himself a supporter of the present Government until in his opinion a better one was formed.
Invercargill, June 25. Mr Lumsden, one of the candidates for Invercargill, addressed a very large meeting of the electors to-night, and received an almost unanimous vote of thanks for his address. Mr Lumsden said he was in favor of giving Sir George Grey a chance of forming a Ministry.
