The Florida’s Frozen; Meat* Wellington, June 11. A private cable message from London states that about 2000 carcases of mutton by the steamer Florida, from Wellington, arrived in bad condition. The damage was not caused by defective working of the machinery, but is attributed to the water which by some means had found its way into the hold. The Ashburton Seat. Nominations for the Ashburton seat are fixed for June .25. The election takes place on July 2. Execution of o’Donoghue. Hokitika, June 11. John O’Donoghue, found guilty of the murder of James Gifford at Moa Creek, was executed this morning. Ho made a long rambling statement denying his guilt. On the scaffold he exclaimed in a loud voice, three times. “God savo Ireland!” Death was instantaneous.
