WESLEYAN CONFERENCE.
[By Telegraph .J Wellington, Jan. 26. At the Wesleyan Conference to-day a Christchurch Committee was appointed to conduct detail negotiations during the year with other Methodist Churches of the Conference. It was also recommended to the Managing Committee of the “N.Z. Wesleyan” to change the name of the paper to the “N.Z. Methodist,” and to reserve space for the publication of Methodist Church news received. It was decided that the Secretary of the Conference should attend the succeeding Conference, ex officio. A motion to give a prize to the probationer taking the highest number of marks, was negatived. Mr Thos. Buddie presented a report of the Committee on the transfer of church property, further consideration of which is deferred to later in the session of the Conference.
A special session of the ministerial conference was held to consider the unconditional offer of Mr Buchanan as a probationer for the ministry. On the motion of the Secretary, it was resolved that his offer be accepted, and that he be appointed to a circuit. It was resolved —“ That a full reading of the stations to be taken, take place on Monday mornlog.”
