AUSTRALIAN ELEVEN V. A COMBINED ELEVEN. By Electeio Telegraph—Copyright, [Reuter’s Agency.] [Received Jan. 2,1884, 1.5 a.m,] Melbourne, Jan. 1. The cricket match between the Australian team which is about to proceed to England, and a combined eleven of Australians, commenced here to-day. The former went first to the wickets, and at the close of the day’s play had lost three wickets for 328 runs. The following are the scores:— Bannerman, caught 11 Giffen, bowled 53 Murdoch, not out 145 McDonnell, caught 11l Bonnor, not out 2 Extras ... 6 Total for 3 wickets ... 328
