MAIL NOTICES.
Malls close at the Chief Post Office Timaru, for the following places (subject to the necessary alterations) as under:— Thursday, Jan. 3. For Northern Ports of New Zealand, per Taiaroa, at 6 a.m. For United Kingdom, vid Melbourne and Australian Colonies (specially addressed correspondence only), per Wairarapa, at 4 p.ro, On Tuesday, Ist January, 1884 (New Year’s Day), all Post Offices will be closed. Local mails usually despatched on Tuesday will be closed on Monday, at 8 p.m, and a delivery will be made at the counter from 8 to 9 p.m. On New Tear’s Day, the Telegraph branch will he open between the hours of 9 and 10 a.m., and 7 and 8 p.m. only.
