WAI-ITI SCHOOL COMMITTEE.
A special meeting of this Committee was hold on Monday last. “Present — Messrs Ogilvio (chairman), D. Fyfe, J. Phelp, A. Mclntosh, A. Hawkins,and J. Hole.
Before proceeding with the business of the evening, it was proposed by Mr Hole, seconded by Mr D. Fyfe, and carried unanimously—“ That the Committee desire to express their sympathy with Miss Wilkinson, Mistress of the School, in the loss sho has sustained by the sudden death of her father —the Secretary to write to her to that effect,” It was decided to hold the children’s treat on Friday, the 14th. The Master handed in the handsome sum of £2l 12s, collected from residents and other friends, and the Committee desire to express their thanks for the liberal way in which all contributed. The Master also reported that he Lad inspected the paddock kindly offered by Mr Hawkins, and thought it in every suitable, and it was decided to accept Mr Hawkins’ offer, with thanks. It was resolved that the sum of £8 be expended in a treat, £7 for a Christmas tree, and £4 in prizes. It was resolved that a committee of ladies, consisting of Mrs Mclntosh, Mrs Philp and Miss Fraser be asked to prepare the Christmas tree and treat, with power to add to their number. The Chairman and Mr Mclntosh were requested to select the prizes.^ It was resolved, on the motion of Mr D. Fyfe, seconded by Mr Hawkins—- “ That Mrs Page and Mrs Lindsay be asked to examine the sewing, and award the prizes for same. It was decided to ask Captain Sutter to distribute the prizes. Mr Mclntosh was appointed treasurer of the School Treat Fund.
