The following letter has been received by the German Consul, hero from the Consul in Sydney : “ Sydney, Nov. 7,1883. “ Sib, —The increasing importance of the export of fresh meat from Australia to England having been noticed in the agricultural papers of Berlin, His Bigness Prince Bismark is desirous of gaining some information about the developement of this industry up to now. In order to make the information which I have been called upon to furnish as complete as possible, I have the honor to request you kindly to favor me a detailed report on the subject in particular. I beg you to state minutely the price of the meat in New Zealand, the cost of transporting it to England, and eventually Germany, and the cost of the procedure for preserving it.
