Hercules made the running bnt after a mile, gave place to Bateman and Clarence which led alternately. Hercules ran off at the double jump, and was out of the race. Rounding the turn for home, Clarence led, Wildboy came up and collared Bateman, who ran round the last jump ; Wildboy made a determined effort to catch Clarence but failed, the latter winning by half a length. Stewabds’ Stakes Handicap of 250 sovs. Six furlongs. Mr Martin’s Mischief, Oat 41bs (Clifford) 1 Mr Stephens’ Hyacinth, Tat iOlbs (O’Connor) 2 Mason and Vallance’ Turquoise Bst I3lbs (Williams) 3 Six others ran. Nonsense and Hyacinth were favorites in the betting at 2to 1, It was a splendid race and won by half a length. Time, Irain Husoes.
