(Pee Pbhss Association.) THIS DAY. Fatal Accident. Wellington, Oct. 31. By a landslip in the tunnel on the Wellington-Johnsonville section of the Wellington-Manawatu railway, two men named John Ernwright and Thomas O’Malley havo been killed ; the overseer of the works, John Scanlon, was also buried, but was saved. Particulars have not yet reached town. Later. Particulars of the accident this morning are as follows : —The men were at work, and at 8.30 Enwright and Smally were engaged inside the tunnel filing a dray, when suddenly a slip occurred along the smooth face above the men, who were completely bnried. A gang of men set to work to extricate them, but fully three quarters of an hour elapsed before this was accomplished, and the unfortunate

men were quite dead, being fearfully mutilated and their arms and legs broken in several places. O’Malley, who is aged about 25, is a single man and a recent arrival from London by the ship Oxford. Enwright is also a single man, aged 30. An inquest will be held. Governor Home Again* The Governor returned from New Plymouth at noon. Suicide' Dunedin, Oct. 31. A man named Cornelius Peterson, 29 years of age, unmarried, suicided at Mosgiel, by cutting his throat with a penknife. He bled to death.
