An Opposition Gas Company, Christchurch, May 18. A new gas company, to he called the Metropolitan Gas Company, is to be started here. The present company have considerably reduced the price of gas in consequence. PoliticalDunedin, May 17. Mr Green received a vote of confidence at Waikouaiti last night. He said he would oppose Major Atkinson’s National Insurance scheme and land tax from whatever side of the House it came. More Gold. Last night’s escort brought down £25,000 worth of gold.
