THIS DAY. [Received May 18, 1883,12.40 p.m.] Defaulting Bank ManagerMelboubne, May 18. The rumor that the manager of a bank at Eaglehawk, near Sandhurst, has been guilty of defalcations is now confirmed. The defaulter’s name is Young. He was manager of the local branch of the Bank of Victoria. Population Returnsi Adelaide, May 18. The population of South Australia on March 31. last, is estimated by the 'Eegistrar-General as 300,000.
