The Melbourne manager of the National Mortgage and Agency Company of New Zealand reports of the local grain market as follows:—Shipping wheat is dull at 5s Id to 5s 2d; malting barley is very strong at 5s 9d to 6s 2d ; New Zealand oats are worth 3s Id to 3s 2d for feeding sorts, and 3s 2d to 3s 4d for milling do. New Zealand 1 oats under bond are quoted at 2s 4d to 2s Bd. The Bank Robbery. It has been ascertained that the prisoner Sweeney, who was arrested at Sydney on a charge! of having robbed the Colonial Bank at Brnnswick last month, is known to the police under the aliases of Longmore and Palmer, as a notorious criminal, both in this colony and in New Zealand. It is stated that be escaped from custody at Christchurch where he had been arrested on a charge of burglary. (Received May 16, 1883, 0.50 a.ra.) Elections-
The election of a member for Sandhurst to Ell a vacancy in the representstion of that constituency, caused by the death of Mr R. Clarke, has resulted in the return of Mr A. McKay.
