(Per Press • Association.) TSZ3 DAY. Well Done Montgomery. Wellington, March 19. Major Atkinson speaks at Christchurch this evening. Mr Montgomery has announced his intention of replying to morrow; Postal ConferenceWellington, March 19. The Victorian Government recently invited New Zealand to join in conference to consider the advisability of joinining the postal union. The New .Zealand Government have replied, reigretting their inability to take part in 4he conference, as it is impossible that a Minister could be spared to visit Australia so shortly before the meeting of Parliament. With regard to the renewal of the Frisco mail contracts, it is understood that Mr Stuart, Premier of New South Wales, will shortly inform Parliament there of the views of his Government on the subject, and the New Zealand Government await the result.
