GOLD MINING.

Nelson, July 29Mr Bayfield, Manager of the Johnston United Co., Collingwood, has received a report from Johnston Mattheys and Co., Assayers to the Bank of England, and the London mint, giving analysis of samples of galena, blend and pyrites from the mine at Collingwood. Galena gives 62 per cent lead with 14 ozs silver per ton of ore. The blend gives 58 per cent of zinc with a small percentage of silver. The pyrites gives a highly pay, able yield of 4 ozs, gold, 15£ ozs. silver, and 3 ozs copper per ton of ore, which is worth in London from £ls to, £lß' per ton. A vein of pyrites from two to three feet thick exists on the Company’# property, and a tunnel of 400 feet to cut the gold bearing reef (supposed to bo the same as in the Hope claim) is nearly finished. This tunnel is to be driven 500 feet in all.
