TIMARU BOROUGH COUNCIL.
The ordinary adjourned meeting of this Council was held lust evening ; present : His Worship tho Mayor, and Councillors Jackson, Ross, Sherratt, Gabites, Cullman and Gibson. Several applications for water suplies were received and dealt with. One was from Mr A. Perry, asking to have tho water laid on to his property at Whales Creek, and enclosing six months' minimum fee iu advance, £5.
It was resolved —“ That the application of Mr Perry be granted upon a guarantee being given to take the water for five years at £3O per year for ordinary supply ; and a four-inch main to be laid to bis back gate with a fire plug put in opposite bis premises. The rate to be payable half-yearly in advance,”
An application from Mr W. C. Beswick and other? for a main pipe to be laid along the right-of-way at the back of. their premises was granted, applicants to pay cast of connection. On an application from Mr Newey of the Criterion Hotel and other residents
on Main road, for'a main to be laid in the right-of-way from George street, it was agreed to lay a pipe from George street to Woollcombe street,- provided private owners whose lands mast be crossed will give permission; and consumers pay tne cost of connection. Mr w. Evans’ application for permission to use a wooden weighbridge in front of his shed on the beach was declined.
A modification of the building regulations was allowed in the stores to be built for the Farmers’ Association. A letter from Messrs Shand, Mason and Co., London, stated that patent hose for the Fire Brigade had been shipped by the Leamington, which sailed in the latter end of October.
The Waterworks Engineer wrote promising a report upon the waterworks at an early date. Accounts amounting to £255 13s 3d on general account, and £llOl Os 3d on waterworks account, were passed for payment. The Council adjourned till Thursday next.
