There was a good audience last night at the Theatre, to hear “ The Chimes of Normandy,’’ and those who attended were afforded a capital treat. The principal characters were well sustained, and-en-cores were frequently demanded and kindly responded to. Mdlle Solange Navaro, while singing and acting the part really well, made scarcely so good a Serpolette as we have seen on this stage, but otherwise last night’s presentation of this capital opera was superior to that previously given here. The Germaine of Mrs Towle was very good, and Messrs Davies and Fox earned great applause for their fine singing aa the Marquis and Grenicheux. The other principal parts were also well sustained, and the choruses were rend ered with excellent force and spirit. Tonight Lecocq’s opera, “LaFille de Madame Angot,” which is brimful of good music and good comedy, will be given.
