EXTENSIVE FIRE NEAR TEMUKA.
The Milford Boiling-down works about five miles from Temuka were burnt down at 2 o’clock this morning. The whole of the premises comprising but buildings a large quantity of tallow in casks, together with the extensive boiling down apparatus, were consumed. In addition to the premises 120 sheep which were penned close by and were to have been shorn this morning prior to slaughtering were roasted almost to a cinder. How the fire occurred is a mystery. We have been unable to ascertain whether the premises were insured.
